On Friday, November 21, 2014 the Phoenix Center for the Arts hosted the 3rd annual Mayor’s Arts Awards.
The Mayor’s Arts Awards are presented in six categories: Visual Arts, Theatre, Music, Dance, Public Art and Creative Writing. Award nominees are selected based on the criteria of innovation, impact and integration by an eighteen-person committee of experts in each medium through a two-stage selection process.
This year, Mayor Stanton honored the following Phoenix artists and arts organizations:
Visual Art: Jenna Raskin
Theatre: Space 55
Music: SOUNDS Academy
Dance: Flamenco Por La Vida
Public Art: Kristine Kollasch
Creative Writing: Dan Hull
Befitting an event honoring achievement in the arts, the ceremony concluded with a showcase of young and talented artists representing a diverse array of local arts programs including Rising Youth Theatre, Phoenix Children’s Chorus, Voices of the Desert, Teatro Bravo, Cyphers and City Jazz.
