I was fortunate enough to participate in the 98th Arizona Town Hall, Capitalizing on Arizona’s Arts and Culture, and I was excited that the Arizona Cultural Data Project had a significant role in the conversations that were taking place. In fact, participation in the Arizona Cultural Data Project was identified as one of the priority actions in the Final Report published subsequent to the convening. To wit, “…the Cultural Data Project… will regularly and consistently collect and analyze data in a standardized system that is shared and demonstrates the impact of the nonprofit arts and culture in the Arizona economy.”.

A great deal of the dialogue was focused on the impact the arts have on Arizona’s economy. Another opportunity to measure this impact is via Americans for the Arts’ Economic Prosperity Report IV. Arts organizations in Flagstaff, Mesa, Phoenix, Pima County and the West Valley Region will be participating in the study. In an effort to streamline the collection of financial and certain programmatic information, Americans for the Arts will be utilizing data collected by the Arizona Cultural Data Project. If you are a participating organization, please note that the deadline for submitting your Fiscal Year 2010 data profile is July 1, 2011. For more information about this partnership and how to participate, please click here.

The Arizona Commission on the Arts will be requiring participation in the Arizona Cultural Data Project beginning with the fiscal year 2013 grant cycle application. The deadline for this will be in March 2012 and initially requires organizations to submit the two most recent fiscal years of data. This means submitting profiles for fiscal years 2010 and 2011. If you questions about this, please email me.

The final orientation session in conjunction with the AZ Cultural Data Project launch will be held via webinar on June 8 at 10:00am, MST. To register for this session, please click here.
