Congratulations to the Arizona recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts, Challenge America Fast-Track (CAFT) Grants; Borderlands Theater Teatro Fronterizo, Inc., Tucson Sino Choir, Cochise College, and West Valley Fine Arts Council.

The next Challenge America Fast-Track deadline is May 24th. The program offers support for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations. Applicants may apply under one of the four following project types: guest artist, cultural tourism, public art and civic design. A summary of the FY13 guidelines can be found here. The full guidelines are available here: http://www.arts.gov/grants/apply/GAP13/Challenge.html. To support the production of Agnes Under the Big Top, a new work by Aditi Brennan Kapil. The work explores the intersecting lives of recent immigrants to this country and will be presented at the Zuzi Theater and other community venues for audiences drawn from throughout Tucson.

Cochise County Community College District (aka Cochise College)
Douglas, AZ

To support the Cochise Community Creative Writing Celebration. Among the proposed authors for the annual, two-day literary conference and reading series are Beth Alvarado, Denise Chavez, Cynthia Hogue, and Marge Pellegrino.

Tucson Sino Choir
Tucson, AZ

To support the Arizona Chinese New Year Festival. Guest artists will include pipa soloist Xian Zhao, guzheng soloist Yadi Jin, and dizi soloist Wang Hongliang.

West Valley Fine Arts Council
Surprise, AZ

To support the Gallery 37 – Arizona Centennial Project featuring the creation of a mural for installation in Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Gallery 37, the council’s signature youth arts employment program, engages students ages 15 to 18 with professional artists to design, create, and install permanent pieces of public art in the West Valley.

Webinar: Challenge America Fast-Track and NEA-GO

On April 18, 2012 from 3:00-4:00 pm ET the National Endowment for the Arts will conduct a grants workshop and NEA-GO training webinar for Challenge America Fast-Track applicants. There will be two presentations and a question and answer period.
