Childsplay Theatre’s Development Operations Manager is a key position within the Development Department, responsible for the integrity of all donor data and its use in support of broad-based donor acquisition, conversion, and retention strategies. In addition to data reliability, maintenance, and reporting, the Development Operations Manager oversees the monthly giving program and conducts web-based research on donor prospects. As needed, the Manager assists with donor events and supports the department’s general administrative needs.

Oversight and coordination of all institutional grants (corporate, foundation, and government) is a significant responsibility integrated with data systems management.

Essential Functions
• On-going maintenance of calendar of grant submissions and reports and coordination with colleagues assigned to draft and document grants.
• Serves as strategist with Director of Development and Childsplay’s Managing Director setting funding priorities for targeted institutional prospects.
• Help develop and manage all corporate sponsorships in partnership with Marketing and other unit (Education and Community Outreach, for instance) as needed.
• Prospect research for high-capacity individuals, philanthropic families, and institutional donors.
• Direct responsibility for the following programs:
o Donor data entry, maintenance, and reporting. Coordinator will record all deposits into Donor Management system.
o Assist with donor segmentation and retrieval for special appeals and events.
o Assure accurate and timely gift entry and reconciliation.
o Assure accurate and timely gift acknowledgements.
o Support Department by handling phone inquiries, one-on-one and group tours and other engagement with donors and prospects.
o Manage monthly recurring donor acquisition and retention program to include reconciliations and billings.
o Oversee online giving.
o Oversee tribute and memorial gifts.
o Assist with raffles and other chance-to-win income.
• In coordination with Development team, support use of donor database (both current and prospective donors) for donor engagement and managed relationships. The position includes use of available data and research to segment prospects to support continued growth in leadership annual giving, special gifts, legacy gifts, in-kind gifts, and corporate/foundation gifts.
• Develop, maintain and communicate as written guidelines for data operations workflows, processes and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience:
• Two to three years’ professional experience in nonprofit development required.
• Proven record of accomplishment in database administration and/or donor services preferred.
• Experience supporting fundraising initiatives through data use and analysis in a nonprofit fundraising environment.
• Comparable experience may be considered.
• Impeccable customer service skills with internal and external customers. Must be comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Strong attention to detail; superb organizational skills with a high level of initiative and follow-through.
• Regular use of discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgement in line with the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (“AFP”) Code of Ethical Standards & Principles.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Background in the arts strongly preferred.
• Must be a team player.
• Able to speak, read and write English.
• Spanish proficiency is valued
• Intermediate mathematical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
• Experience with Salesforce or another CRM-based platform will be valued.
