The Desert Awareness Committee of the Foothills Community Foundation in Cave Creek AZ has designed a program for fourth graders which helps them to better understand and appreciate the Sonoran Desert.
Our team of volunteers visits each fourth grade class in our desert foothills area to present this 90 minute hands on program. We recently wrote and published a book to go along with our program. It is the story of a 12 year old girl who learns lessons about life and dealing with bullies from some unusual friends she meets while lost in the desert.

Because fourth is the designated grade which includes Arizona studies, our program and the book targets this audience. We have received support from individuals, APS and Kiwanis of Carefree which allows us to provide both the program and book free of charge to schools in the foothills area and beyond.

Our goal is to find the support necessary to get the book into every school in AZ as a supplement to their AZ studies.
