Last fall, Arizona Teaching Artists were surveyed on the unique challenges and benefits their communities hold around a teaching artist’s role in arts education. Join us for a half day symposium with Lincoln Center Education to learn more about the current state of the teaching artist field nationally, to discuss the Arizona survey results, help outline steps to move the field forward locally, and engage in breakout sessions led by Lincoln Center Education teaching artists.
Lincoln Center Education (LCE) offers a fully-immersive summer teaching artists training program, with the purpose to identify and define essential elements of Teaching Artistry in order to promote excellence and sustainability in the field. This keynote will give context to the national/international landscape of teaching artistry.
Lincoln Center Education’s mission is to enrich the lives of students, educators, and lifelong learners by providing opportunities for engagement with the arts on stage, in the classroom, online, and in the community.
Mesa Arts Center, Childsplay, City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, and Arizona Commission on the Arts have partnered together to evaluate the Teaching Artist landscape in Arizona. Using surveys and community conversations, these four partners have started to identify needs and priorities throughout Arizona. Learn more about the state of the field in Arizona and help imagine goals to reengage the Teaching Artist community through future convenings, professional development, and a partnership with Lincoln Center Education.
