As COVID-19 spread around the world and across the nation over the Spring of 2020, the Arizona Commission on the Arts endeavored to respond swiftly and efficiently to the rapidly changing needs of Arizona’s state’s arts sector. Established programs and services were either placed on hiatus or adapted to better meet the unique challenges of the current moment. The story of March 2020 to March 2021 is one of rapid response, agile development, strategic partnerships, and active listening.
