Welcome to day one of National Arts in Education Week 2026! Throughout this week, the Arizona Commission on the Arts will be highlighting arts in education programs and research.

National Arts in Education Week is an annual celebration of school-based arts programming, offering an opportunity to explore the impact of arts education! Organized by Americans for the Arts, National Arts in Education Week 2026 will take place September 13-19 under the theme, “Every Student, Every Community.”

Americans for the Arts has a page devoted to Arts in Education Week loaded with resources to help you learn more about the impact of arts education and how to increase access and participation in your community!

For our part, we’ll be sharing a week of news, research, and stories about arts education in Arizona:

Tuesday, we’ll feature the Arizona Poetry Out Loud program.

On Wednesday, we’ll have a guest post from our friends at the Arizona Department of Education’s on the Arizona Arts Education Data Dashboard, a powerful tool for exploring access to and participation in arts education in Arizona schools.

On Thursday, we’ll announce the 15 exceptional young people from across the state who will serve on the 2026-27 Arizona youth Arts Council!

We’ll close out  Arts in Education Week 2026 on Friday with personal reflections from our own staff members on the impact of Arts Education in their lives.

We hope you’ll follow along and join us in this national celebration of arts in education!
