On Saturday, March 8, 2025, nine Arizona high school students from all across the state will compete for the title of Arizona Poetry Out Loud State Champion and the opportunity to represent the state at the Poetry Out Loud National Finals in Washington, DC! Arizona Poetry Out Loud State Finals will be held at Arizona State University Memorial Union from 1:00-5:00 pm and livestreamed at https://news.asu.edu/asulive.

Administered by University of Arizona Poetry Center, in partnership with the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the the Poetry Foundation, Arizona Poetry Out Loud invites the dynamic aspects of slam poetry, spoken word, and theater into English classes across Arizona. Through Poetry Out Loud, students can master public speaking skills, build self-confidence and learn about their literary heritage.

State Finalists

Each of the nine students competing in the State Finals rose through classroom- and school-level competitions to compete in one of three regions: northern, central, and southern.
