Each year, our friends at Arizona Citizens for the Arts partner with the Governor’s office to celebrate the best in Arizona’s arts and culture community and the magnificent contributions they’ve made to our state’s arts and cultural heritage. Since 1981, over 175 distinguished Arizona artists, arts organizations, businesses, educators and individuals have been recognized for their passion, creativity and devotion to the excellence and diversity of Arizona’s arts and cultural community.

On Thursday, May 4, 2017, nine more Arizona arts luminaries will be added to this list at the 36th annual Governor’s Arts Awards.

In lieu of a plaque or a mass-produced statuette, each Governor’s Arts Award honoree receives a one-of-a-kind work of art created by an Arizona artist. You can learn more about the artists behind the works on the Arizona Citizens for the Arts website.
