Deputy Director

Alex Nelson is a collaborative, facilitative leader with expertise in public funding and community-driven programming. Her work has been dedicated to building individual and organizational capacity for learning, listening, and dialogue, with a steadfast focus on cultural equity. In her time with the Arts Commission she has worked on a number of major initiatives, including the Arizona Arts Education Research Institute, Rural Community Catalyst grants, AZ Creative Communities, and AZ Creative Aging. She has also worked as a teaching artist, museum educator and production manager, and is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BFA in Dance and a MA in Creative Enterprise and Cultural Leadership.
