Toni Robinson isĀ a member of theĀ 2016 AZ Creative Aging Teaching ArtistĀ Institute cohort.

The Teaching Artist Institute is a five-month training program that will introduce teaching artists to the variety of settings, programs, and partners that make up the creative aging field, andĀ provide skills-building activities forĀ participants to attain the specialized knowledge needed to work successfully with older adults. Inspired by ArtSage and other national models, the Institute has been developed around the philosophies of person-centered care, a process-based approach, and cultural responsiveness. Toni Robinson uses her experience as a performing artist and classroom teacher to inspire groups to make bold, balanced and meaningful changes in their personal and professional lives. She has a passion for designing and delivering interactive learning experiences that incorporate theater, movement, technology, and participant expertise.

Toni has acted in numerous plays,musicals, commercials, short films and industrial videos over the past two decades. She has performed on stages in Arizona for more than a decade, starring in numerous productions, including The Exonerated, The Appointment, Same Time Next Year and The Old Settler.

Throughout her career, Toni has held a variety of teaching positions in diverse settings. In addition to the teaching positions she has had in the United States, she’s also taught in Japan, South Africa and Spain.

Currently, she uses her talents as an educational professional and a performing artist to help educators shift their instruction to engage students in a meaningful way, and step into bold, new possibilities as they create more dynamic, student-centered learning environments in the classroom.
