As if theĀ Arizona Poetry Out Loud state finalsĀ weren’t exciting enough, the 2016 finals were held in the downtown Phoenix studios of Arizona PBS. On March 11, 2016,Ā 10 high school students from all across the state stepped on to the stageĀ andĀ into the spotlight to recite poems for aĀ liveĀ audience and Arizona PBS’s TVĀ cameras.Ā On Friday, April 15, at 9 pm,Ā Arizona PBS HD broadcast a half-hour special featuring highlights from the competition.Ā
āWe are thrilled to be a partner in hosting and broadcasting the 2016 Arizona Poetry Out Loud competition,ā said Arizona PBS producer Suzanne Guery in a press release. āThis competition emphasizes many of the values our organization is dedicated to supporting, such as academic advancement, literacy and personal pride. All of the finalists made great achievements to reach this point, and weāre pleased to take part in celebrating those successes.ā
