ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Under direction of supervisor)

1. Responsible for the implementation of pre-planned logistics and day to day operations necessary for events and performances.

2. Assists in the process of pre-production including advancing, scheduling and resource management through verbal and written feedback to the Production Manager.

3. Oversees and coordinates day of load in, loud out, and set up of all sound system, stage lighting and theatrical equipment necessary for events as specified by supervisor and advancement information.

4. Acts as crew lead when staffed on an event, performance or rehearsal. Oversees the work performed by over hires , will oversee and manage the work and break schedule of the staff.

5. Assists in training new Per Diem Overhires.

6. Primary communicator with House staff and liaison between Tech department and House staff.

7. Primary communicator between artists and technical staff on day of show.

8. Prepare and provides show reports, and equipment sign in sheets as needed.

9. Provides input to Production Manager for stage department maintenance expenditures, equipment purchases and capital improvements.

10. Ensures clean, safe and proper working conditions at all times including supervising emergency drills.

11. Implements and maintains industry standard safety and theater management practices used by all members of the tech department and over hires, with an emphasis on safety and performance excellence and OSHA, national/local labor laws and HIPPA laws.

12. As determined by Production Manager, serves as a liaison and coordinator for specific events with other departments within Scottsdale Arts, outside contractors, artist, clients and other participants to provide the best possible experience for both the artist and the patrons.

13. Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field (note: additional experience may be substituted in addition to what is required to meet educational requirement)

2. Experience; Minimum 2 years’ experience as stage manager in a professional venue, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must exhibit demonstrated ability to perform essential functions through past work experience.

3. Attributes:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to read, comprehend and accurately interpret technical riders and drawings for a wide variety of live performing arts events

· Ability to perform mathematical and algebraic calculations at a high-school algebra level; as well as understanding and interpreting statistical data and performing analysis on raw data.

· High-level personnel management skills in a creative field with a variety of personalities and stakeholders, including but not limited to: performing artists, touring crews, local crews, vendors, non-tech staff, board members and the public.

· Able to multi-task and work calmly under a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.

· Must be proficient in: Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)

· Able to use and safely operate sound, lighting, video and rigging equipment common to a multi-disciplinary performing arts center at least an intermediate level, required.

4. Work Environment: Employee works in back stage and theater booth areas occasionally. Position requires lifting up to 50+ pounds, with standing the majority of the day but must be able to ambulate up and down stairs, ladders, and other backstage equipment to perform job functions. Requires bending, stooping, crawling, climbing and balance. Vision and hearing/auditory required for work performed. May be exposed to outside elements, and works on computer frequently.

5. Other preferred certifications:

· Must possess valid driver’s license and driving record which is acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier.

· CPR/AED certified

· First Aid Certification

· Fork Lift Certification

· ETCP (or similar institute/association) Certified Rigger-Theater Certification preferred.
