The Arizona Commission on the Arts invites nominations for volunteer grant review panelists. Volunteer panelists are integral to the work we do at the Arts Commission. In addition to our annual grant programs for organizations and schools, panels are also convened to review applications for our Artist Research & Development Grants and special funding initiatives.
In recruiting panelists, we look for people who are willing to commit time and energy to the review process and who exhibit sensitivity in making constructive critical judgments. To help reflect the diversity of the state, the Arts Commission also considers gender, geographic representation and cultural background when appointing panelists. Finally, the agency seeks balance among the professional groups encompassed by the arts, such as practitioners, administrators and educators.
Panelists are appointed on a panel-by-panel basis and may only be reappointed to the same panel two consecutive years. That means we’re always looking for new panelists.
The Arts Commission uses both an internal and external nomination process to identify potential panelists. Individuals interested in serving as a panelist may nominate themselves.
