ASA is seeking an orchestra director for its string program. This faculty member will conduct all students enrolled in the program, grades 7-12, approximately 20-50 students per class, 2 periods, 4 content areas.

ASA is dedicated to providing learning and performance opportunities for students to performance through a series of graded classes. The ASA string program strives for the highest musical excellence. The curriculum includes learning the skills of rehearsal etiquette, intonation, bowing, articulation, and practice techniques. Our core values instill respect of self and others and the proper role of sharing musical talents in a cooperative setting.

Students are divided into four levels (String Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra) all based upon playing ability. While there are four levels of classes, the instructor has students every other day. The other times are spent technique classes learning string technique. Upper level students serve as TAs in String and Concert Orchestra classes.

This is a part-time, salaried position with primary work responsibilities from August to mid June with preparation work often done during summer months. Classes are held on the ASA Campus. The instructor will also be required to attend a weekly department meeting.
