In June 2021, Jaime Dempsey will leave her current position as the Arts Commission’s Executive Director after 15 years of service with the agency. That same month, the Arts Commission’s Governor-appointed board will launch an open public search for the agency’s next Executive Director. Commissioners have appointed the agency’s current Deputy Director, Alex Nelson, to the role of Interim Executive Director.

NEA Awards Grants to 19 Arizona Arts Programs, Projects

On May 12, 2021, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced more than $88 million in recommended grants to organizations in all 50 states and jurisdictions. 19 grants, totaling $568,500, were awarded to Arizona arts organizations and projects.

New Report: Pre-pandemic Arts and Culture Contributed $10.9 Billion to Arizona’s Economy

According to new data released on March 30, 2021, by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Arizona’s arts and culture industries contributed $10.87 Billion to the state’s economy in 2019, employing nearly 89,033 Arizonans who earned a combined $5.59 Billion, contributing more to the State’s economy than mining, agriculture, and forestry combined.
