Clearly Human III

Clearly Human is a biannual national juried exhibition of artwork focused on the human figure. Work in all media will be accepted, including (but not limited to) painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and printmaking. Both traditional and contemporary approaches to the human form are welcome.
In continuous operation since 1886,The St. Louis Artists’ Guild is a nationally known Arts Center recognized for exhibitions and programs that educate and enlighten, bring art to all segments of the community, and serves as a resource and network for community artists of all ages and interests.
Juror: Michael Behle
Michael Behle is an artist, educator, and community organizer based in St. Louis Missouri. His work has been exhibited extensively at venues including: Laumeier Sculpture Park, St. Louis, MO; Phillips de Pury, New York, NY; Art Resources Transfer, New York, NY; Aqua Art, Miami FL; Puerto Rico International Art Fair, San Juan PR; The Underground, Stuttgart, Germany. In 2012 Behle founded Paul Artspace, a residency program located in St. Louis and in 2014 he co-founded Museum Blue, a project space also located in St. Louis. He has served as independent curator on numerous projects for both local and national exhibitions. His work has received support in grants and fellowships from the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, the Regional Arts Commission, and the Vermont Studio Center among others. Behle has served as a guest lecturer and visiting professor at several venues and institutions, most recently at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence Italy and the Birmingham School of Art in the UK. Currently Michael is the Assistant Chairperson and Teaching Professor in the Department of Art and Design at UMSL.

May 29, 2018 | Begin Artwork pickup. Exhibited artwork cannot be removed from the gallery until May 29, 2018. All works must be retrieved from STLAG’s galleries. The artist must make arrangements with the Gallery Director and preferred shipper to retrieve the work by July 31, 2018, or else the work will become the property of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild.

How to Apply: Entry Guidelines
- Artists must be at least 18 years of age
- Up to 3 entries may be submitted
- Artwork must be original (not copied from other art or made from a kit)
- Completed within the last two years.
- Not shown previously in the St. Louis Artists' Guild galleries
-Work must be priced and marked for sale or not for sale (NFS). NFS work must include insurance value. The St. Louis Artists' Guild will insure 65% of the value.

St. Louis Artists' Guild members may submit up to three pieces for a non-refundable fee of $24. Non-members may submit up to three pieces for a non-refundable fee of $35.
Cash prizes totaling $1000 will be awarded by the juror.
