52 Reasons - UA Steve Eller Dance Theatre

Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre, Opera)

The Performing Arts Program at the Arizona Commission on the Arts serves the community by ensuring that the public has access to and benefits from the performing arts – dance, music, opera and theatre, as well as interdisciplinary events. The program acts as liaison to statewide, regional and national service organizations in the fields of dance, orchestral music, theatre and presentation. The program administers:

Special projects such as Arizona Dance on Tour - ensuring rural communities have access to world-class dance; Meet the Composer/Arizona - celebrating American composers of our time; Regional Touring - assisting artists wishing to expand their touring; Field Forward Network - peer review process for performing artists; American Masterpieces - celebrating the masterworks of American artists; Understanding Participation - researching the motivations behind arts participation.

Services/Convenings - technical assistance in areas such as assistance in developing grant proposals to the Commission; public presentations on Commission programs; research in participation in the arts; referrals to consultants, arts professionals and other resources; convenings for discipline-specific fields (chamber music, choral music etc.); organization development; consultations for organizations and individual artists in a wide variety of areas.

Opportunities - listings include opportunities for artists; educators and teachers; and staff of organizations and arts administrators to apply for call to artists, competitions, residency opportunities and attend professional development opportunities such as local and national conferences and workshops.

Resources - links to resources for artists; educators and teachers; and staff of organizations and arts administrators in areas such as health insurance, listservs and e-newsletters, articles of interest, residency opportunities, assessment, listing of Arizona Libraries, evaluation, partnership, arts standards, links to other arts learning organizations, research, curriculum, teaching artists, nonprofit resources and more.
