Last month the US Department of Education released its Notice Inviting Applications for new FY2014 Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination (AEMDD) grant awards. On Tuesday, March 18th, they will be holding a pre-application webinar to assist applicants with the application process.

AEMMD grants are designed to enable Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) and organizations with arts expertise to further create and develop materials for the replication or adaptation of current comprehensive approaches for integrating a range of arts disciplines-such as music, dance, theater, and visual arts, including folk arts-into the elementary and middle school curricula.

The program supports the enhancement, expansion, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative, cohesive models that demonstrate effectiveness in:
• Integrating into and strengthening arts in the core elementary and middle school curricula;
• Strengthening arts instruction in those grades; and
• Improving students’ academic performance, including their skills in creating, performing, and responding to the arts.

Details about the March 18th webinar can be found here.

The AEMDD deadline for Notice of Intent to Apply is March 27, 2014 and the deadline to Submit Application is April 28, 2014.
