Congratulations to Lisa Jayne, a playwright from Show Low and a Governor-appointed member of the Arizona Commission on the Arts board of directors. Three of Jayne’s poems were selected for inclusion in the recently published fall 2016 edition of Muddy River Poetry Review, an online, international anthology of previously unpublished work.

In an interview with the White Mountain Independent, Jayne sited the instruction and encouragement of Northland Pioneer College Creative Writing teacher Dr. Inez Schaechterle as instrumental to teh development of her skills as a poet.

“Inez is an inspiring teacher. She always finds the strong points of your writing and makes you feel like you’ve got something to say,” said Jayne.

Jayne grew up in Gilbert, Arizona, attended Northern Arizona University for her undergraduate degree and received her MFA in Playwriting and Screenwriting from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. She was appointed to the Arizona Commission for the Arts in February 2015. Jayne was the Artistic Director of White Mountain Regional Theater in Show Low, Arizona for six years, and has taught/directed productions at Northland Pioneer College in Snowflake, Arizona.

You can read more about Jayne and the publication of her poetry on the White Mountain Independent website.

The published poems can be found on the Muddy Tiver Poetry Review‘s site.
