The Desktop Artist position is responsible to produce effective, response-oriented advertising materials for our clients according to Valassis specifications. The position is accountable to accurately execute work requests to maximize impact of product and effectively convey client message. Position is located in Phoenix, AZ

Responsibilities Include:
Production Design: Create pages electronically and prepare for production, including manipulating and reassembling existing artwork to accommodate multiple product lines. Interpret and validate accuracy of work requests received from internal clients. Translate clients’ graphic service needs and provide input to other internal cross-functional positions. Perform simple and complex typesetting accurately and completely. Produce maximum number of quality art files while optimizing efficiencies. Produce hard/soft proofs.
Communication: Communicate directly with internal and external clients as requested, to make recommendations on layout, creative, and design.
Issue Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot file/workflow issues to resolve problems and eliminate obstacles. Effectively collaborate with clients and internal partners to find mutual solutions, and communicate and position information on challenging situations to internal partners.

Qualified candidates will possess:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associates degree in graphics related field plus 3-5 years desktop publishing experience.
Knowledge of pre-press and 4-color process printing to insure design compatibility.
Knowledge of Macintosh operating system and utilization of peripheral equipment.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs.
