Designed as a creative placemaking program to revitalize post-industrial North Adams, Massachusetts, DownStreet Art enhances resident engagement and increases downtown visitorship through arts and cultural activities. Now celebrating its tenth season, Downstreet Art will bring 10 public, participatory projects to North Adams in 2017. These include three dynamic opportunities for artists and designers to develop and showcase their work in an art-friendly community.
Visual artists interested in community engagement and social practice are invited to submit concepts for a participatory mural, to be realized in collaboration with North Adams community members. DownStreet Art also welcomes designs for a parklet, a pop-up park that will occupy a downtown parking space. Artists of all disciplines are invited to activate this space with performances, installations, and other programs throughout the DownStreet Art season. Visit downstreetart.org for additional details, and to apply by March 31.
